No - Mycophoria provides "guide" or "trip sitting," services. Psychedelic therapy involves a level of psycholitic processing, facilitated by a licensed professional psychologist. Becca takes a ceremonial, and largely "hands off' approach, to allow you deep inner exploration. Becca does provide guidance through techniques such as pranayama, yoga Nidra, and gentle touch such as hand-holding if requested and agreed upon prior. If you are interested in pursuing psychedelic therapy, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a great option to look into. MDMA-assisted psychotherapy and psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy still largely takes place through underground facilitators, and some may not have licenses due to legal restrictions.
It is understandable to desire the elimination of certain feelings, traumas, or habits - in one fell swoop. However, there is a reason why working with psychedelics has been frequently referred to as "the medicine path." Each journey may help us peel back one layer of pain, traumatic memories, somatic stickiness, and emotional baggage at a time. However, there is a need to slowly address the root of the wounds that have prompted us to seek out psychedelics. We cannot rush this process, nor can we predict that we will ever be "free" of certain afflictions, habits, neuroses, spiritual wounds, etc. The good news is, we can take some pressure off of ourselves, and open to the possibility that each journey offers us. Expecting a dramatic improvement or total personality change, may leave us disappointed or frustrated with ourselves. A mindset of openness and patience are strongly encouraged when using psychedelics intentionally. This allows room for being pleasantly surprised at the gifts they do have in store for us!
As a disclaimer, I do not work with anyone under 21 years of age. Additionally, like any adult seeking a treatment modality, the person partaking in the journey must express a desire themselves to move forward. I am happy to consult with both family members and the person who could potentially benefit from entheogens - however, the individual must express a desire themselves. I do not work with individuals under coercion, as I do not feel this is an ethical framework for healing.
As I am not a medical doctor, I cannot provide guidance on medication interactions. I can share the current published research, as well as point folks towards resource like Ben Malcolm, the Spirit Pharmacist, for contestations. However, research so far states that psilocybin has proved to be the physically safest psychoactive substance.
Integration is the foundation of life after the psychedelic experience. We can integrate consciously - by working with a provider, finding like-minded community, and making small steps towards action, change, and embodiment. Or, we can integrate unconsciously - assuming that all changes will happen for us, becoming frustrated by overwhelm when we begin to feel a disconnection between the self. Why not take advantage of the gift you have before you, in the weeks after a psychedelic experience? Seeking guidance can assist in making lasting, gradual changes that align with your journey insights.
This is a very nuanced topic, and depends greatly on the individual, the substance used, the frequency and amount, and the dedication to making changes. I strongly recommend to never stop using any substance abruptly - especially alcohol and benzodiazepines. Some individuals are able to have a meaningful journey while still using certain amounts of substances - and the experience can assist them in the gradual letting go of such substance. However, it is more commonly understood that tapering off or ceasing the substance intake, can lend to a deeper, more profound journey. Again, please consult an addiction medicine physician for the best medical advice on your certain situation. I am available for consult and operate from a lens of zero shame or stigma. I am familiar with the gradual cessation of using substances like alcohol, and always work from a harm reduction lens, first and foremost.
The first step would be to schedule an in-depth consult, so that we can be most confident in working together, as this is a collaborative and highly personal process. When we decide to move forward, I collect a $150 nonrefundable deposit to reserve your session dates. I will send over my in-depth intake form, as well as my client resource folder, so that we can jump right in to the explorative process together.
For free consults, I am unable to book a follow-up if the first one is missed for any reason - our time is valuable. For 1-hour sessions, I ask for a 24 hour cancellation notice, or the session will be charged in full. For full day meditations, I require a 48-hour cancellation notice. If less than 48-hours is provided, I will charge half of the total owed.
